Q: What do you love about the cannabis industry?
A: What I love most about the cannabis industry is the heart, passion, and soul that so many of us have for what we do. In the 15 years that I’ve worked in this industry, I’ve had the opportunity to collaborate with so many amazing, deeply passionate people because of our belief in this plant. I have no competitors, I have a room full of colleagues who are all marching in the same direction to do something good.
Q. How can people at the individual and company level get involved and help make a positive effect in the industry?
A. For individuals: Pay close attention to how laws are being passed in your local jurisdiction as well as in your state. Make sure these laws, rules, and regulations aren’t passed without the voice of the people being heard. If you truly believe in this cause, it’s important to not only vote, but to call your senators and congressional leaders to make your voice heard on a local level. Become advocates so that we can create a strong foundation for a diverse and fair industry.
For companies: Do good by being good. It’s not just about the money, it’s about giving back to make sure important associations like SSDP, MPP, and NCIA are supported financially so they can continue to fight the good fight and make this a sound and sustainable industry moving forward.
