There may be some real progress happening towards national legalization of cannabis, ending the century long prohibition. In August 2022, the National Conference of State Legislators revised a policy measure for cannabis legalization with banking reform originally drafted in 2018, moving the country one step closer to descheduling cannabis at a federal level. According to the organization, over two-thirds of states and US territories now have some regulations in place related to the plant showing that national oversight is no longer needed and is actually hindering economic opportunities in the industry.
